The Northeast PA Logistics & Transportation Industry Partnership Presents, "Report to the Community III: Actions"
The Northeast PA Logistics and Transportation Industry Partnership will be presenting, "Report to the Community III: Actions" on Tuesday, June 19 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. The informational session and networking luncheon will be held at The Woodlands Inn & Resort in Wilkes-Barre.
This event will discuss the actions the Northeast PA Logistics & Transportation Industry Partnership is taking to ensure its future success and growth. The proactive measures the Partnership is planning and currently utilizing will be explained in great detail at the session. These specific actions were devised from recommendations from the L&T Training Needs Assessment Report, the Career Pathways Report, the Wadley-Donovan SWOT analysis and the Partnership's marketing plan.
Representatives from the industry, economic and workforce development, chambers of commerce and educational institutions in the Luzerne, Schuylkill, Lackawanna, Northern Tier and Pocono counties will be in attendance. Key community stakeholders are encouraged to attend this event in order to be aware of the positive impact the Northeast PA Logistics & Transportation Industry Partnership has had on local companies and their employees, to learn about the partnership's plans for the future and to receive information on how to become involved.
In January 2006, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announced funding for the formation of the Northeast PA Logistics & Transportation Industry Partnership. The $550,000 grant received by the Luzerne County Workforce Investment Board, Inc. is part of Governor Rendell's strategy for building a skilled workforce, Job Ready PA. The Partnership also received an additional $269,000 grant earlier this year in order to continue its efforts.
Area partners who worked with the Luzerne/Schuylkill Workforce Investment Board, Inc. to secure both the $550,000 and $269,000 grants include, Luzerne County Workforce Investment Development Agency, the RedCo Group Workforce Investment Networks, the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry, Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton and Schuylkill campuses and Luzerne Country Community College and industry leaders all of which have strong interest in strengthening the logistics and transportation segment of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
