The Northeast PA Logistics & Transportation Industry Partnership Reveals New Website

The Northeast PA Logistics & Transportation Industry Partnership's goals are to align economic and workforce development programs to meet the skills and needs of logistics and transportation industry companies, the career goals of workers and to attract and retain quality employers in the Northeast Pennsylvania region. One of the most effective ways of accomplishing these goals is through the Partnership's website.

The Partnership has developed an informative and educational website nepapeopleonthemove.org. The website was developed to provide information to those interested in a career within the logistics and transportation industries. Companies within those industries can also learn about the benefits of joining the Partnership, find specific industry research and have access to valuable resources.

Among the main resources available on the Partnership's website is the Career Pathways Model. This model assists in both recruiting and training by outlining five major career paths in the industry and provides information about the skills, education and training necessary to achieve success along those paths. The website has a direct link to Pennsylvania CareerLink, which can be utilized by both job seekers and employers.

In addition to the Career Pathways Model the website provides information on training programs that will aide in employee advancement within the industry.

The website makes available the results of the Industry Partnership's SWOT Analysis. This logistics and transportation industry analysis is the product of a contract between the Wadley-Donovan Group WDG and the Luzerne/Schuylkill Workforce Investment Board, Inc. to assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for logistics and transportation operations in a 12-county region that comprises Northeast Pennsylvania, with an emphasis on a core area of four counties. The 12-county area consists of Bradford, Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties, while the core area is defined by Luzerne, Lackawanna, Monroe and Schuylkill Counties.

The website allows both internal and external audiences to read about the benefits of joining the Partnership, find industry-wide and NEPA-specific research and have access to beneficial resources. Potential employees and students can learn about the different aspects of the industry and will be able to access information on job openings and educational training programs that are available.

As the industry continues to change, Partnership members and industry employees will now have a forum in which to address these issues. Also, the Partnership will still continue to work together to reach new audiences -- students, employees, career centers, colleges, chambers, etc. through the informative website at nepapeopleonthemove.org.
